AKUAPIM SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY  coat of arms

MCE Visits Akuapim South Immigration Command

2026 MCE Immigration Visit On 19th November 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Akuapem South, Hon. Hon. Paul Osae Offei, paid a working visit to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Aburi Command to familiarize himself with the command’s operations, understand the services they provide to the municipality, and learn about the challenges they face.

The team was warmly received by the Officer-in-Charge, Madam Susan Adisenu. In her welcome address, she briefed the MCE on the command’s background and activities. Established in May 2020, the Aburi Command oversees immigration matters across all 36 electoral areas in the municipality and currently has a staff strength of 114, comprising 21 senior officers and 93 junior officers. The command conducts community sensitization programmes, processes passport applications, monitors the activities of foreign nationals and religious organisations, and collaborates with sister security agencies on joint operations.

Madam Adisenu highlighted several operational challenges that are hampering the command’s effectiveness, including working in a rented building that is in serious disrepair and creates an unconducive environment, inadequate office furniture and equipment, lack of potable water on the premises, insufficient motorbikes for patrols and operations in rural and suburban communities, and outstanding rent arrears for 2025. She appealed to the Municipal Assembly for urgent support, specifically requesting at least one motorbike and a financial intervention of GH¢1,000 to enable the command to perform its duties more effectively in hard-to-reach areas.

Responding to the concerns raised, the MCE warmly praised the officers for their outstanding contribution to security during the recent Odwira festival. While noting that the Assembly’s current priority is the construction of the 24-hour economy market, he gave a strong commitment that the command would be relocated to a befitting permanent office within the next 18 months. In the meantime, he invited Madam Adisenu to arrange an early meeting with him to identify and implement practical short-term solutions. He reaffirmed his unwavering support for the service and wished the entire team continued in peace and success in their duties.

The visit concluded on a positive and cooperative note, with both sides pledging stronger partnership for the security and progress of Akuapem South.
